Respected Velji Desai Bhai was a Gandhian and belonged to Rajkot, Gujarat. He has established many small scale and cottage industries in his lifetime to make villages after villages self-reliant and self-sufficient. One such practical from his series of efforts is Khadi.
Rajkot has the khadi institution where powerlooms and handlooms are manufactured to help make villages self-reliant. Some of the handlooms also produce khadi cloth products.
We are is continuously striving to take this noble effort of khadi by Velji Bhai, forward.

आत्मनिर्भरता ही अर्थशास्त्र (अर्थशास्त्र) का मूल केंद्र है। और भारत में आत्मनिर्भरता यानी स्वावलंबन का केंद्र बिंदु है — खादी उद्योग।

आदरणीय वेलजी देसाई भाई एक सच्चे गांधीवादी थे और गुजरात के राजकोट से संबंध रखते थे। उन्होंने अपने जीवन में अनेक छोटे व कुटीर उद्योगों की स्थापना की, ताकि गाँव दर गाँव आत्मनिर्भर और स्वावलंबी बन सकें। उनके इन्हीं व्यावहारिक प्रयासों में से एक महत्वपूर्ण प्रयास है — खादी।

राजकोट में स्थित खादी संस्था में पावरलूम और हैंडलूम द्वारा खादी वस्त्रों का निर्माण किया जाता है, जिससे ग्रामीणों को रोज़गार प्राप्त होता है और गाँव आत्मनिर्भर बनते हैं। कुछ हैंडलूम पर खादी से बने वस्त्रों और उत्पादों का निर्माण भी किया जाता है।

हम  इस पवित्र खादी प्रयास को, जिसे वेलजी भाई ने प्रारंभ किया था, आगे बढ़ाने के लिए निरंतर प्रयासरत है।
